I’m Vijay Kumar Vangalapudi Parents Monitoring Committee chairman at SNN Government highschool, Kaikaluru. It has 710 students from 6th to 10th grade. The majority of the students come from BPL (Below Poverty Line). My goal as a school chairman is to introduce extracurricular activities to students in addition to the Govt provided curriculum such as Karate, Dance, Spoken English, Computer Science, and Personality Development classes. These extracurricular activities are only offered at private schools for which parents must pay huge fees.
To make this possible, I have appointed a karate teacher, and approximately 200 students out of 710 enrolled in these classes. For this to be possible, I need financial assistance, which the government cannot provide. I have approached Friends for Education for help to pay Karate Master’s monthly remuneration and Karate uniforms for students. FFEI Board members responded positively and sent 30,000/- rupees towards Karate Masters’ remuneration and children’s uniforms.
These classes started in December of 2021 and are progressing day by day. Parents, students, and villagers have all expressed happiness about these classes.
Through Friends for Education International, we were able to start ground-breaking and innovative steps to empower children. We thank you FFEI for helping this worthy cause.
